wishoTouch Japanese word and kanji dictionary
* v2.4.1 update coming soon

Save time looking up Japanese with wishoTouch. This universal app turns your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad into a powerful yet easy to use Japanese-English-kanji dictionary.

wishoTouch comes with its own full-screen kanji handwriting pad. You need to know the stroke order, but results are sorted in such a way that most of the time you don't need to draw the whole character. You can also find, filter and browse kanji by attribute (radical, number of strokes, meaning etc.), rotate the device to quickly thumb through related glyphs, and watch interactive stroke-order animations for 6,355 kanji.

And that's not all. Tight integration with a word dictionary allows you to seamlessly jump between a kanji and its compounds. This integration makes use of multitouch gestures: touching a kanji shows its details, while touch-holding gives you other options. wishoTouch also takes advantage of the iPhone's high-res screen to deliver a crisp, easy-to-read interface. Hunting for kanji has never been simpler or more enjoyable!

Visit our site and see the app in action.

⚠ Basic knowledge of hiragana and kanji stroke order is recommended.

This app uses the JMDICT, KANJIDIC2 and RADKFILE Japanese dictionary files. These files are property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group at Monash University and are used in conformance with the Group’s licence.

What's new in Version 2.4
Apologies to users who had problems with the last update. This one contains a number of fixes and adds support for iOS 6.

- On iPhone 5/iPod 5, a panel above the handwriting results shows details of the first kanji. Dragging your thumb around the panel shows the details of the other results.

- Added Grid View (iOS 6). In this view you can search for kanji by keyword & parts, and browse the current group from Kanji View. You can tap, tap-hold and pan (swipe) the tiles; shading can be set in System Settings > wishoTouch

- Added readings for hangul and pinyin

- Added iSpeech® Module option for enhanced audio + English speech recognition. Speech recognition lets you look up English words without the keyboard.

(Kanji OCR Module) Improved reliability by adding another recognizer (tesseract)
(Kanji OCR Module) Added option for pinch-rotate gesture

If you have any problems with this update please let us know. Thanks!
