Turn your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS into a Metal Detector!

IDetectMetal measures the magnetic field using your phones compass. Magnetic disturbances that alter the 'normal' magnetic field are detected. Try it out over your load speaker, computer or magnetic objects around the house. Note that not all metals are magnetic
Simply move the phone steadily to a local magnetic field or object. The graphic, audio and vibrating feedback of iDetectMetal update as the measured field changes.
iDetectMetal also provides user settings for volume and vibration sensitivity.
The application uses the compass hardware in the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, so the user must have location services enabled for correct operation.
The World Magnetic Model (http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/) is used as a internal reference in the new algorithm (no network access required and no location information is transmitted from the phone).
