Simply pinch to zoom out to get an overview of centuries, then zoom all the way in to see what happened on individual days. Scroll around and explore! You'll start to get an intuitive feel for when things happened and how history has developed over the past 2000 years.
When you're done browsing around, tap the magnifying glass symbol and filter all events by a keyword phrase! Want a timeline of historic events in your city? How about any major earthquake in the last 2000 years? Any custom timeline is just a couple of taps away!
LineTime's data for the events shown comes from various high-quality sources:
・FindingDulcinea.com has provided over 400 in-depth articles on some of the most important events in history.
・Over 350 event descriptions are taken from the "American Memory" articles provided by the Library of Congress.
・All other data is taken from English Wikipedia articles of each individual year. When possible, images are displayed, and the Wikipedia articles can be displayed by tapping the image.
How to use:
・Pinch with 2 fingers to smoothly zoom in and out of history
・Swipe to scroll through the last 2000 years of history
・Tap images or event spikes to show event details
・Tap the magnifying glass to filter all events by keyword
・A grey spike means no data is available for that date
